What would Discord be without bots? Discord bots bring more fun, but also more organization to your server. Check out our 11 favorite bots right now!

Discord is probably one of the most underrated messaging communities right now. While everybody is turning their attention to up-and-coming messaging apps like Telegram, Discord has been showing an impressive growth in the past years.

Founded in 2015,  Discord started off as (and still is) the number one online community for gamers. On Discord, communities of like-minded people or interest groups come together to create their own group chats called servers. The servers not only allow users to send text messages, but also videos, images, and voice messages, and Discord also supports video and voice calls, and — of course — Discord bots!

Due to its multimedia features and underground vibe, Discord is turning into Gen Z's go-to messaging board. As of January 2023, the platform counts around 560 million registered users and 154 monthly active users, that's a growth of almost 200% in eight years.

Besides the community spirit, one of the most fun elements on the Discord servers are the bots.

Discord bots: From productivity to play

The tech-savvy Discord users love to add bots to their servers, either to help with admin tasks, to provide aid to members, or just for entertainment. In the following, we show you eleven of the most fun and useful Discord bots right now.

1. GAwesome Bot

GAwesome is a great starting point for anybody who wants to add a Discord bot to their server, as it's very versatile. It can help you moderate chats, automatically ban unwanted members, give out awards, but also run polls, generate memes, set up to-do lists, and you can also connect it to some external platforms like Wikipedia, YouTube, Reddit, and more.

2. AI image generator

Discord users love pretty much anything that allows them to create images. That's why the AI-based image-generating project, Midjourney (9.5 million users), is the platform's largest server.

On Midjourney, you can pay for a subscription version, but there's also a free AI image generator bot

And even the free version is very powerful. If you want an image of R2D2 with a cat face, it'll definitely generate some cool renderings. Even though the free version takes some time to generate images, it's a lot of fun, and (honestly) hard to stop.

3. DankMemer

Memes are an integral part of Discord, which is why, DankMemer, seems like the perfect bot for the Discord community. With this bot, you can create memes in seconds by manipulating images, and you can even prompt the bot to create specific memes.

And because memes can get problematic, DankMemer has in integrated moderation system where you can ban certain keywords and images, and mute spammy users.

4. Discord Translator

As Discord is a global community, the Discord Translator bot can come in real handy. It's actually very similar to the Babelgram bot on Telegram: you just type in whatever you want in your language, and the bot automatically translates it for you.

5. ChatGPT

ChatGPT has taken the world by storm, and it's also one of the most popular integrations for Discord bots. The cool part about the Discord version is that it will not only generate text, but also images.

6. Green-bot

Green-bot is the perfect addition to your server if you want to incorporate music. It plays music 24/7, and you can connect it to music platforms like Spotify and Soundcloud. However, the bot does have many paid features, and it loves to remind users to get an upgrade. If you can get past that, it's an easy way to add some music to your server.

7. SoccerGuru

SoccerGuru is a game bot focused on, you guessed it, soccer. With its live scores, game predictions, FIFA cards, and more, this is a fun bot if your community is into the sport.

8. Tatsu

Tatsu is one of the most widely-used Discord bots. You can use it to set moderation commands, automate welcome messages and notifications.

It also includes games. Users love the many features the bot offers, the high quality of the bot, the customizations, and, of course, the Tatsugotchi pets.

9. MEE6

MEE6 is one of the most-used moderator bots on Discord. You can assign roles with it, set custom commands, include private messaging, and it overall helps you keep your server organized 24/7. To be fair, the free version is pretty basic. If you want better features, you'll have to invest in the paid version.

10. FreeStuff

Who doesn't like free stuff?! Not surprisingly, the FreeStuff bot is one of the most popular Discord bots. Once you've added it to your server, it sends you messages when a game is available for free. What's really impressive: FreeStuff won't send you messages about games that are typically free.

11. TriviaBot

Most users want to discuss their favorite games or music on Discord, but why not add some fun and games to the chats? That's exactly what the TriviaBot offers.

The trivia game supports multiple players and has over 100,000 questions from different categories where you can test your knowledge in film, TV, sports, manga, and science.

Build your own Discord bots

Depending on your needs and coding skills, you might prefer building your own bot on Discord. Discord allows for easy integration of external bots, so it's pretty easy to set up your own bot for your server.

If your needs are more complex, or if you're actually a business with a server on Discord, there are also professional solutions that can help you with that. With Sinch Engage, for example, we offer an AI upgrade that allows you to set up more sophisticated bots, on Discord and beyond.
